I believe that one of the most important parts of being an educator is maintaining a high value system and adhering to the Code of Ethics. These are the basis of how we must
conduct ourselves. Teachers and administrators are being trusted to care for, educate, nurture and foster minds of the future. In addition, we must look out for our students in case they themselves are in some sort of peril. Hearing that a student is being physically or emotionally abused is one of the hardest duties an educator must deal with. Is the child safe? What are the options for the administrator? What Ethics are being challenged and what rules must be followed. I find this competency the scariest as well as the most needed. But processes are in place to help educators maintain ethical standards as well as help those students in need. I will continue to adhere to the Code of Ethics and do what is best for the student. |
